Hi everybody.
I bought at an antiques fair in Parma (Italy) this coffee table. Hope You can see the picture: it's France and Sons coffee table from P. Hvidt.
I bought it just because I liked it, not knowing anything about it, and the price of 500 euro seemed to me ok: it's in very good conditions.
Starting from the metal stamp FF, I learnt about it, and I found much more pictures of the same table with a rattan shelf underneath, that mine doesn't have.
Can ony one confirm me that both versions (with / without rattan shelf) are genuine?
In the case they both are, is 500 Euro right?
Thanks!
Giulio

If the underside of your...
If the underside of your table shows a small screw hole next to each of the legs, this would indicate that it at one time had the brass support arms for the lower shelf, which may have been removed because the rattan was worn out and broken, and the person did not feel like getting it fixed.
Still an attractive table even without a lower shelf.
Could be the ones I have...
Could be the ones I have seen had the screws added later, to keep the rings from rotating out of position once they were in place, but I assumed they were done by the factory. I have seen two this way - a round table I have that is missing the lower shelf, and one that I helped someone disassemble for transport.
The only image I found online...
The only image I found online of the bracket does not show a small screw through the ring, so it could be that I am remembering it wrong, or confusing the screw part with the little brass ball at the end of the rod, which screws into the lower shelf.
Were these tables ever marketed without the lower shelf?
