Yes, I do
I bought the following on eBay:
Saarinen Grasshopper Chair and ottoman
pair of plastic top Aalto stool tables by Thonet
pair of George Nelson end tables, black top
George Nelson low table, white top
Florence Knoll 27" square table, Walnut top
4 Eames EC-127 upholstered plastic back dining chairs
George Nelson rectangular "thin edge" side table, wood laminate surfaces
2 19 3/4" square Eames tables on wheels, one grey laminate and the other wood laminate top
-------
All of the above were just what I wanted, although the Grasshopper chair had fabric I didn't like and when I had it reupholstered, the frame needed some repair, but it's now fine.
So, yes, if you know what you're doing, you can find nice stuff on eBay. I don't recall all of the prices paid, but, believe me, all of them were bargains.
Absolutely pay attention
to the feedback and if you're gonna do alot of bidding, BY ALL MEANS open up a PayPal account. I know that some people hate PayPal, but I've had no trouble with them. Opening an account with PayPal is like opening up a bank account. It's quite safe and PayPal was such a good and successful independent company that eBay bought the company.
As far as connecting your bank account with your PayPal account, it's essential because if you pay with PayPal, you have to have a connection to your bank account so the funds can be pulled out for your purchase.
Try it...it works well and if you get dishonest goods, you can file a claim.
ebay
I've both bought and sold on ebay. I picked up four additional Knoll Saarinen tulip chairs at a very good price and for just a few $$ more had them delivered to my door by the owner (he made a 6 hour round trip). My original set was bought through Craigs list. As far as my ph5 poulson lamp, I checked on ebay and the only place that had it was overseas in Europe. They sell original vintage lamps but I decided to make my purchase through Y-Lighting in the states. I got a brand new lamp at just a little over what it would have cost me for the used one. I also did not have to get the lamp rewired for US current and there was not damage as most of the vintage lamps had some slight history (A term I had never heard of before until I went to the DWR Warehouse in NY!). For my purposes buying new was worth it. I am not sure that buying something new is acceptable to purists though.
BTW, I checked your lighting fixture on Google and I LOVE IT!!!! Hadn't a clue what you were talking about until then. (I thought it might have been something found in Fredericks or Victoria's Secret for a second!!! - I LEARN SO MUCH FROM THIS BOARD!!!! I love just it!!!!)

Here's the seller on eBay that I bought my PH5 and copper fixure from.
She's very legitimate, safe and is located in Denmark.
Check out her eBay store.

It can be a great source......but be careful
We trade a lot of design on eBay and are lucky enough to have an "old school" eBayer working for us. It can be a great source for buying and selling, but as their are a lot of scam artists, fraudulent peices and sellers who either don't know what they have or can't describe it properly, I would suggest getting help from someone who really knows the system very well.
Infact, I'm sure if you found an item on eBay that you like, but are not sure about it, post the link in this forum and I'm sure you get a lot of support from the regulars.

Azure...nothing wrong with PayPal
I've never had any problems with PayPal...but then again, being basically a bank, lots of people hate their banks.
Bottom line; if you buy and sell on eBay, having a PayPal is 1000% EASIER to pay for items and to received funds from items you sold.
I wouldn't want to do eBay without it.
Meanwhile, eBay a BEAST? Where else am I going to find beautiful ORIGINAL George Nelson clocks for affordable prices?
