Hi, I am looking for comments as to the correctness and accuracy of this chair as in original condition and a rare color?
It is so clean and new looking I am confused.... I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about this chair,
thanks

Base
Is a reproduction. Underside of shell looks fine. Can't tell if the top side has been refinished or not...
Color is Brilliant Yellow. Looks like Summit production.

Nah, woody...
That's lemon yellow. The later chairs are just a lot denser and richer in color.

If I may...
the runners are the giveaway. They are blazingly new, and have not one bit of age to them.
Brilliant yellow is actually the official name of the more greenish yellow. This looks like the later version of the bright yellow. The more opaque version, i think.
edit: (of course, it is always hard to tell for sure in photos)

It looks like Brilliant to me, especially the first photo... but you could be right.

is there a sunshine yellow?
it is being referred to as that...and the seller says it is rare because this color and the kelly green were only made for one year? I have been unable to verify that 😉
also,
you are referring to this as 'later' and they stopped selling the rockers in '68 right? so would that make this manufactured sometime between 1953 and 1968 by summit ...
thanks for your time

The base is fake...
It doesn't factor into dating the shell at all.

no
the base is fake.
So its not an original rocking chair.
So it is irrelevant when original rocking chairs were made.
Because this is just a shell chair that has had its original base removed so the owner could add the new rocker base.
Lemon yellow and brilliant yellow are official names. When I said "later version of bright yellow", I meant the lemon yellow. I have seen the later more opaque bright yellow shells a lot though, and I doubt that they were only produced for one year. (Brilliant yellow is a green hued almost lime yellow.)

thanks for your time one and all
I understand
I am just trying to take away as much as I can from the conversation. rarely, very rarely see any eames chairs in person in these parts over the last 15 years.

Dating
You can also date the chair by looking up the highest patent number listed on the tag, which will be the most recent date. That at least gives you an earliest possible year of production. Herman miller tended to update these labels as time went on, so the patent date will give you a pretty close idea of when the shell was produced. You can look up the parents at the US patent office website.

Date stamp
There is also an "82" stamped on the underside. The whole stamp is not visible but it looks like part of a date stamp. I think these shells were generally date stamped when they left the warehouse?
