Just spelled out the entire forum but could not really find an answer for my question. So, here goes:
Just bought a set of eames fiberglass side shells on a white la fonda base. There is no mark or whatsoever on the bottom of the shell, there is only an embossed 'V'. The shock mounts have a small herman miller logo. The chairs originate form Switzerland. Can anyone identify the chairs and maybe date them? Maybe the V stands for Vitra and the shock mounts come from Herman Miller?
Thanks!
it's the same
Vitra has been producing Herman Miller chairs, and selling them under that brand for a long while before leaving aside the HM name and marketing Vitra as a brand on it's own.
That's why you can often see furniture with tags such as :
- "Herman Miller - Fehlbaum Products" (Rolf Fehlbaum being the man behind Vitra)
- "The Herman Miller collection by Vitra"
Your chairs are Herman Miller chairs manufactured in Europe by Vitra.
