Funny you mention this
because I came across a problem.
I bought an upholstered Eames shell on a LaFonda base.
I then found a beat-up breen upholstered LaFonda shell on a standard 4 caster legged pedestal base.
I switched the bases, but the screw are slightly different.
The screws that fit the standard Eames shell is a hexagon screw that's about 1 1/4" long
The screws that fit the LaFonda shell are finer thread and only 3/4" long.
The LaFonda shell had standard thick rubber shockmounts and and standard Eames shell has thin shockmounts.
So the newly recovered LaFonda shell is on the LaFonda base and looks beautiful, except for that the screws aren't quite long enough. I went to the hardware store and they couldn't recognize those too shorts screws.
So, they may be interchangable, but not quite.
Here's the fixed-up chair (cost me $275.00 plus the cost of the fabric)
looks great Barry !!!!! ...
looks great Barry !!!!! the screws are no big deal
look up in the yellow pages for a special store that sells screws
or shoot me apic of what you want
we do so many chairs we have all kinds, for the Herman Miller chairs,
I am not like those ass holes on ebay that sell screws for 4 bucks each cause they think they will only fit Miller chairs , that is wrong and bull crap,
Chair looks nice we do it for 250.00 and vinyl free, and fabric at cost, but since you have a guy in town
you saved shipping.
