I have an early pristine armshell that I would like a full detachable cover for (they made these for a small time). Does anyone have a lead on getting one - vintage or preferrably someone that makes them new? I would like to add comfort to this chair to use at my desk where I work for several hours at a time. Plus it would be a nice way to retain its condition.
There is a Japanese comapny on ebay that makes bikini pads, seat pads, and full covers for side shells ... but not anything else. LRF - is this something your company could make affordably ... or at all?
If not - I will probably buy a seat pad for it. I just want something that will stay stationary without the use of velcro etc. that would tarnish the mint finish.

if you want I can make you up a pad and i will make one up for you at cost, just tell me what you want maharam fabric or vinyl and thickness
I would suggest you got to Joann fabrics and get velcro and put on chair and the bottom sides it will work perfect for you, although we have not made any for customers we have all paterns and it would not be a problem at all,
For some reason everyone in the world wants there armshells redone, we have been swamped with that chair, just let me know at retroredo.com

whitespike if i am understanding you
that might be real cool, just to have a pad that would sit on the arm shell to make it a little softer on the old hard Ass.
Some one said that Herman miller is now introducing them in the new poly chairs, but i do not have HM's price on the pads,
I do think the cool thing would be to make the pad from one of the great Girard/Eames fabrics good thought and good idea, whitespike
A seat pad is a possibility....
A seat pad is a possibility. What I was really referring to is the ability to make a FULL pad for arm shells. Possible? I'd be willing to be a guinea pig.
The neutral miller stripe could be cool. I have a butterscotch colored shell. Any color or pattern suggestions for this color?
The color is similar to the shell below - perhaps a little darker - more caramel.
i was fooling with that c...
i was fooling with that chair to day and nothing looked right no way to do a full pad as it just slips right off and nothing to hold it on,
i think if you had a great chair like that one in good condition a nice pad for the old butt would be perfect , let me know,
Okay
I might go with the neutral miller stripe seat pad. I don't want to add velcro to the seat. Any way to use a rubber coated bottom that would "grip" the seat?
You should look into the full pad manufacturing possibilities. It is possible. In the old days the eames full REMOVABLE pad was available, so there is a way.
I will let you know by next week which fabric I will choose. Thank you so much, LRF. You're a swell guy!
use a rubber coated bottom...
use a rubber coated bottom that would "grip" the seat?
i will see if i can find some of that stuff that would be perfect for the non slip
e mail me next week i will be out of town for a few days
i have some miller stripe in stock and i can make a pad out of that and it would be perfect but i think i want to see if any of the vendors can find the grip instead of using shiny vinyl.
rubber grip another good idea from Whitespike
