Well, I took the plunge and bought the Eames desk from Highbrow Furniture. It came today (a week from placing the order...very fast!) and I love it. The top is a beautiful birch veneer and the red, blue, white, and yellow panels add a nice touch of whimsy. Looks great in the home office, which has Pella windows. A great addition to my mid-century home. (I live in a Charles Goodman house in Silver Spring, Md., built in 1953.) Highbrow has free and fast shipping, and I have not been disappointed with the items I have bought from them, nor the service.

A little cost comparison... Have never dealt with Highbrow but it appears they offer up some good discounts... A Knoll Bertioa Bird chair and Ottoman in Mariner fabric retails for $3045 plus shipping... Highbrow's price is $2032 with free shipping... I'd say that's pretty damned good... Glad to hear your experience with them was good...
