friendly hello to everyone ..
i bought two eames/herman miller armchair shells in ochre.
manufactured Cincinnati Milacron for Herman Miller (C with star & logo with flat A in herman miller).
the shockmounts seemd to have indentions of a stacking base?!
that doesn't make any sense to me .. armchair with wide-confi. and stacking base?
i've never seen an armchair with this confi .. does anybody knows something about?
thank you 🙂

Hard to see any impressions left on the shock mounts as evidence of previous base, but maybe it was intended for a tandem configuration? If so, I don't think I've ever seen anything but universal mounting on tandem sets. Looks to be in great shape, though!

Not a stacking base in this case, but likely a ganging one. I have seen a promo photo of this combination in a book someplace.
Numerous dealers have stacks and stacks of these bases, so it is not hard to get a good deal on one.

thanks ... 🙂 but ...
hm .. the only base i knew in widemount is a stacking one. the impressions on the shocks looks like a stackingbase .. but why - an armchair isn't stackable?!
.. i don't want to buy such a widemount stacking base, that's not the point ...
i'm interested in: does anybody saw an (orig.) amchair with wideconfi .. or has informations about .. has produced milacron such armchairs for test purposes? or "prototypes"? .. maybe it isn't as special as i guess - so i can rip the old shockmounts off and glue some new mounts in narrow?! ..

Answers: 1 Again, ganging (or "scholastic", as noted above), not stacking; 2 YES; 3 You see it first-hand, it's self-evident; 4 NO- you're getting carried away here; 5 It would be a serious pain in the ass but people do it sometimes
