Such a tough question. Can on...
Such a tough question. Can only share my experience. I have a black aniline LCM from the early 50's. The shock mounts show clear sign of wear and they may go out any time but I paid only $170 for it. It's more a display chair for me as I have a few too many chairs for my one and only butt.

Hi
I have a LCM with boot glides and foil Herman Miller label (with Charles Eames signature). The top of the spine (where the bar for the back rest is attached) is angled, not flat across.
Another check: Ask for the measurements of the chair and its parts.

Hi Woody,
Mine is similar but has the screw in glides. Do you have a picture showing what you mean by an angled bar on the back? I should look at mine as well. Thanks.

Some photos for reference. This chair is birch veneer.

Thanks for the input
Thanks for the pics woodywood
The guy says it's angled across
But I will let this one pass since there are to many red flags, and the seller still wants over 500 euros for it.
Furthermore I got my fix today anyway, since I picked up two N.Eilersen safari chairs for 40 euros today 🙂

Thanks Woody for the pix. Are the shock mounts new too? Good job on the repair if they are. 500 euros sounds too high of a risk. I feel bad sometimes for people in Europe because they have to pay so much more for quality pieces.

Shock mounts on the back rest are new, replaced by Herman Miller. Rather expensive, but I didn't feel like messing with them at the time.

Ahhh
So you are Europe? That would have been good to know from the start since there are differences in US Herman Miller production pieces and Vitra pieces produced in Europe.
