Dear all
I'm looking into buying this eames lcm chair
The seller cannot date it since it hasn't got any labels on the chair.
He send me some grainy pictures , what do you guys think.
Does it have a certain age
Do you guys spot some anomalies
Thanks in advance
MM

Looks okay
It would be helpful to have a photo of the entire underside. Also, some additional angles of the entire chair.

I'm no expert on this...
I'm no expert on this matter, but I believe that the slip-on rubber boots that this chair has were only used between 1953 and 1959. Everything else about the chair looks shockingly "fresh" though - I'd have a hard time believing this piece was that old!

Looks like cherry veneer.
I'm not sure how that would jibe with boot glides, but it doesn't seem right.

Hi
The shape of the chair does not look right. The underside of the seat does not look to be veneered. I believe this is a knockoff.

Woody, can you say more what's wrong with the shape of the chair? I'd be curious to know.

Looks right to me
It looks like walnut veneer, possibly a little bleached from sun.
Frame, shockmounts, glue, glides etc. look OK to me.

Hi
The underside of the seat looks like raw birch (not walnut veneer or any other veneer) to me.
The areas around the shockmounts should sanded (i.e. appear unfinished). The entire underside looks unfinished (and not veneered) to me.

thanks fot he input
I asked the current owner and he says the underside is not veneered and not even finished
Is this possible?
Has anyone come across another type of LCM like this
I've put another photo in of the backrest which looks veneered both sides
The shockmount have some letters on them
Thanks again in advance for any additional info

For a few years in the 50's, ...
For a few years in the 50's, on both the LCM's and LCW's, shock mounts would have little dimples. However, yours look to be way too new for the chair to be that old. Also, they look to be actual letters rather than dimples. My understanding is authentic pieces have never had letters on their shock mounts. I have a feeling they're replica replacement mounts, especially with a less than perfect job as indicated by the red residual glue oozing out of the bottom shock mount.

Second look
I originally looked at the pictures and replied from my iphone.
Looking at the pictures on the larger desktop, there are things that definitely look odd. The finish on the wood is too clean with no visible wear. I thought the circles on the shockmounts were holes or dimples which would be appropriate as mentioned. Like the wood, the frame is way cleaner than would be expected. The underside of the chair does look odd. Some details look right such as chairs of that vintage would have the larger screw in the back center shockmount under the seat, and I've not seen a knock off with early boot glides, but I'm constantly surprised with the fakes that turn up these days. Curious if the frame is solid. I've seen many chairs where the shock mount glue was messily applied.
I think it is one you'd have to see in person before making a decision.

And
And a somewhat naughty question on this forum,
But I would like some guidance/expertise on this issue.
What would one like to pay for a decent vintage LCM 🙂
