The onus would then be on...
The onus would then be on the buyer unfortunately to confront the seller and demand his money back. The buyer could then message it to eBay and they might just take notice this way. This depends on a buyer willing to take on the cause.
Directing the buyer to this forum would also help to show that whoever messages him is not just a disgruntled back bidder or something.
Buy Low Sell High
"Buy low sell high" is the fundamental basis of the entire antiques/vintage market, there are plenty of reality shows that can testify to that fact. In addition you can be guaranteed that most pieces in any high end vintage/antiques dealer, gallery or "1st dibs" has been worked on to achieve its "pristine" condition status. The sense that "addicts" in this thread are shocked, dismayed or threatened by that universal reality is either denial or ignorance. Wake up addicts, there's thousands of dollars worth of item "flipping" occurring on ebay daily and they only gain to profit from that.
realtime
Did you read this thread and look at the links? Nobody's complaining about someone buying low and making a profit. People are complaining about buying one thing and reworking it and willfully misrepresenting it as something else. That's fraud, not just a clever business tactic.
It's crazy what Modernesia...
It's crazy what Modernesia will try to pass of to buyers! This rocker base is totally a new reproduction. Look at the connectors where the screw holes are.

Glitches
The shop mark also looks a little wonky. There's a slight gap in the centre that shows as white between the red and black and there are little white marks at each of the top left and lower right corners of the red block. Overall the three glitches suggest poorly aligned layout and reproduction, thus a possible fake.
Hundreds? Really?
I guess my first question is how old are you? And then, naturally, where do you live?
Despite what you've seen, I have a very hard time believing that many mounting tabs were produced in THAT short a period of time. I've seen quite a few rockers as well by my assertion, though well less than even one hundred. But not once in my experience have I seen a legit chair with these rounded tabs which wasn't a true first production rocker. Nor have I've seen any in reputable literature or even online in fact. It seems your eyes is letting you down. At least I hope that's the case.
