I have a credenza I purchased years ago for around $300.  It is a Dyrlund piece.  I am mostly curious about the company, not looking to sell the item or anything.  It is a well-made piece of furniture but I assume that Dyrlund borrowed design elements from other designers as many of the elements are similar to Arne Vodder pieces but I don't believe he ever did any work for Dyrlund (that I am aware of at least).  Just curious about Dyrlund's operations.

I don't want to sound all that well informed. Most of the stuff I know was learned here anyway and I have only been here 4 or 5 years, and not that often since the new site.

Anyway, I'm getting off track:

As I understand it from others here, Dyrlund functioned in the later part of the Danish modern boom, and increasingly things were made for a mass market and less time or consideration was spent with design and in turn less interest was paid to the designer. A lot of furniture from that period in the 70's goes unattributed because it just wasn't as important anymore.

There are exceptions of course, and to say less time was spent on design makes it sound like everything from the 70s was awful, it wasn't. The no name designers probably cared about what they were creating. It just wasn't the same industry it had been before.
