I know this should have gone in the hideous thread but really rosewood for gods sake!

Looks like rosewood and afromosia too?
I've only seen the teak ones before.

.
Surely easy enough to salvage? Strip the front or a really good black finish over the yellow and some new handles?
The Fabricius sideboard has a veneered case and black doors doesn't it, or is that the other way around...? It can look good anyway.

I have seen one of these before and the front is rosewood too ( hats if its by Mcintosh), should be easy to put right it just never ceases to amaze me after seeing hundreds of these re painted pieces.

Visible grain goes in and out fashion...apparantly quite a few Greene and Green houses had their interiors completely painted, imagine having to strip something like this back!

This makes me laugh
I am laughing at this because it was not just two weeks ago my GF and I were at an estate sale and sure enough, items had been painted...green.
We didn't realize it at the time when we purchased two lamps there that they, too were actually painted green until we got them home and started to clean them up - and noticed paint on the rag.
I imagine it can be removed - and for that price I would snap it up if I was a Brit.

In addition to
paint, further aesthetic damage is inflicted by reversing the two "draws" (drawers). Surely the two recessed areas should be kissing each other rather than fleeing from each other ?
Not that it really matters . . .

I was hoping this was about the Nelson/Arbuck thread.
Apparently, it's not unique to New England where a "draw" is a place to keep one's socks, and "drawer" is something one does with a pencil.

or maybe..
the "draws" are to keep one's stash..
and the "drawers" come in boxers, briefs, and/or bikini.
just a thought..
ps. is the plural of y'all, y'all??

Hmmm... good question, Mark.
I always thought they were some sort of sailboats.

I believe the diesease is called 'upcycling'?
Anyway, here's one of the culprits, ironically called Little Monster Design.
Shall we arrange a lynch mob?
