Art deco is not really my style, but this desk is kind of cute. What do you all think?

"I only have two"...
If your response to a remark referring to your desk fetish is "I only have two", you do indeed have a desk fetish. Desks are like credenzas or daybeds. Only one is needed no matter how large your manor may be. How many have you had at one time? Tell the truth...

LOL
I actually havent owned a single desk until this past 6-12 months. I just keep stumbling on them lately on craigslist and in stores. What I really need is a shelving system or long credenza for an empty wall in the living room. But if I had my way, every bedroom would have a nice little desk. 🙂 Is this denial?

is not just a river in Egypt. I know you have the small McCobb. But I seem to recollect a thread that you admitted to already owning or in the process of pursuing at least three or four others. 'Fess up! As for the little one in this thread, it just really reminds me of those late '30's, early to mid '40's formica-topped chrome and sparkly vinyl dinette sets that make my teeth hurt. Maybe in a student's apartment or something? Or Beaver Cleaver's first pad? Sorry, showing my age there!

How's mine?
it's the Chrome manicure desk made for the beauty shop in the demolished Curtis Hotel, opened in Minneapolis in 1932. Mine too is a bit Deco, ain't it?
By the way, Rocky...yours IS cute.

I like both of the desks - Barry yours is really cool. I love the industrial / machine age stuff. Whenever I find it, it goes straight to my studio!

nice desk Barry
your desk is very cool Barry. I dont own the little green desk. I just saw it on craigslist for $125 and thought it was really cute. The thing next to it is a trashcan. I didnt have a place for it and I didnt feel like driving out to look at it, but I still think it's cute!
Nopers, I only own two Mccobb desks. I did at one time consider purchasing an original Eames desk. It seems I keep bumping into desks while looking at mid-century items. And I wont deny that I think some desks are beautiful architectural pieces. 🙂

That desk you show looks a lot like the designs that Norman Bel Geddes did for Simmons, though I have not seen one with the oversize hairpin leg or that style top. You may want to look into it further however.

yes
He didnt know how old it is, but said it was very old and came out of a doctor's office.
THanks for the tip. I looked up Geddes desks, but couldnt find anything similiar with the hairpin leg, not that this totally excludes it being a Geddes. The owner doesnt know the maker.
