arms versus armless
I agree that armless chairs do look better with most tables, but actually that had no bearing at all on my choice. I chose armles cuzthe folks sitting in my seats wouldn't fit otherwise. (big butts, ya know)
Whitespike, the good thing about the chairs I chose and others like them is that they are good 'symphony' pieces. What I mean by that is that when you see them alone they look nice and have good style, but they work very well in concert with many different tables allowing it to be the soloist whilst providing harmony. And, dam-it, they are indeed comfortable. Here's the table that I use them with.

I purchased the chairs at clearance from the Knoll website three years ago. The chairs were $50 each.
Knoll was also clearing out the Jacobsen Series 7 armchairs for $90 each. I would have bought them, but I always thought their seats were a bit small. When I asked a customer service rep why the low prices, she responded that Knoll would no longer be carrying any Fritz Hansen products.
It was one of those lucky purchases, as a result of a tip from one of the designaddict community members.
