I bought these mcm wall units. I am having them refinished, repaired, sanded down and painted. They are solid wood with walnut veneer and paint for the colored fronts. The refinisher stated I can pick what color I want for the fronts. Should I stick with the original colors (who knows if they are truly original) or go with something else? Maybe a light blue and variant of with white? Anyone know who might have made them?
Added pics. Sorry about that! Also, I should add that the original green in the pics is closer to a avocadao-gold than a green.

Picture
Mind including a picture? Impossible to tell who made them without having seen them.

any pics?
Do you have any pictures you could upload of the 'original' colors. If the drawer fronts are also solid with walnut veneer, I would consider stripping the paint and oiling the whole wall unit to show off the natural wood grain. Either that or I would stick to a 'George Nelson' color palette.

It is pretty likely you can f...
It is pretty likely you can figure out if the paint is original.
First: most people will slather most anything with whatever house paint they can find, and you should be able to see dried drips, brush marks, and all sorts of crap in it.
Second: take a door off the hinges. You might immediately see old paint underneath. Or cut with a razor blade to expose lower layers of paint.

looks original
The paint looks original. I did not see and brush marks or drips anywhere, including the hinges. The pieces are with the refinisher who says they are good quality. The wood is solid wood (he thinks walnut) with some veneer. Some of the cabinet faces are a cheaper lighter type of wood product (cant remember what he had called it), but maybe so they would be easier to maneuver.

Well if the paint is...
Well if the paint is original, and you care about value, or even possible future value, you might consider keeping the original colors.
They don't look like something of high value, to my uneducated eye, in today's market, but that doesn't mean tomorrow's market won't love them to pieces. See the works of a one Adrian Pearsall for an example.

thanks
Thanks Leif. I dont think they are of high value either. I think I was attracted to them because of the colors, so maybe you are right, in that I should match the colors.

I think the wall units are...
I think the wall units are really nice and I wouldn't change a thing about them. They remind me of the colorful cabinets produced by Dutch designers in the 1950's. These pieces are really of their time and I think that's a great thing. I want my furniture to remind me of another period in our design history.
By all means conserve, but resist the urge to upcycle. These cabinets may even inspire you to go in a new direction for your interior. To me, repainting them is like choosing a painting to match an interior. Be bold!

Agreed
The condition looks fine from here. Are they significantly damaged? Perhaps just the wood parts need to be polished up a bit.

Thanks!
You guys are great! I was disappointed when I received them as there was more damage than I could tell from the pics. But, overall, the finisher says that it is all repairable and that he will have them looking great. It will not be cheap, but these are so unique that I will keep them for a long time. You guys are right! I should keep the original colors.
