No, this lamp was not designed by Charlotte Perriand
No, this lamp was not designed by Charlotte Perriand.
In 1949 she curated the exhibition "Formes Utiles, Objets de Notre Temps" at the Musée des arts décoratifs in Paris.
The exhibition included works of art (Calder, Miró, Léger)and furniture by Jean Prouvé, Pierre Jeanneret, René Herbst, Hans Pieck and Perriand herself. Besides the furniture there was a selection of "anonimous objects" such as the Infraphil lamp, switches, an iron, a kettle, glasses, etc.
She selected the Philips Infraphil lamp along with other household objects as an example of good design but there is no evidence she was the designer of these objects.
See the Pompidou catalogue "Charlotte Perriand" (2005), p. 109.

I have always doubted this, actually.
But great to see it function as a wall-fixture!

Perriand myth
I was recently at an auction and 2 infraphil lamps were being sold as designed by Perriand and were passed in when bidding stopped at $300.
Funny thing is that I can buy one almost any week for less than $20 on eBay.
I have noticed that many dealers sell the model with the red anodised metal ring as a Perriand design. There is never any documentation to support this claim, and as noted earlier in this thread, the infraphil appears to have been selected for inclusion in an exhibition curated by Perriand, and not designed by her.
Attribution is so important when it comes to vintage furniture and objects and it would be good to settle the Perriand/infraphil lamp mystery.

Another lamp that can be in the same status about Charlotte Perriand
Hello,
I've read your message and i think that maybe this lamp (see image) has the same status.
Could you confirm it?
In every anounce (leboncoin, ebay, etc.) says that it's assign to Charlotte Perriand, but there's no way to have autenticity. In the design websites doesn't exist.
I put one link of one of those annonces: http://www.ebay.com/itm/lamp-desk-light-charlotte-perriand-articulating-...
I thought that maybe this lamp is on the same case as the InfraPhil.
Thank you very much
