Just need a vent. I purchased some hinges from the USA and they cost me $20 and $35 in postage. Which Im fine with because they were hinges I couldnt find in Australia. The problem is I have just been charged $12.26 by ebay as an 'international charge' that was directly debited from my bank account. Because I only use this bank account for online stuff I dont leave any money in it unless I know something is coming out and I have had no notice from ebay to say I was going to incur this fee so consequently the account became overdrawn and my bank will charge me $40 overdrawn fee. I am also sure that I have not authorised ebay to access my account directly. I have only ever paid my accounts with a one off payment. This is not a paypal fee, this is a ebay fee. I have sent ebay an email asking them to reimburse me the $40, what do you think my chances are? I am also thinking about ending my relationship with ebay which is a bit sad because I have purchased some really cool stuff via the site.

This is mystifying...ebay charged you, as a buyer, a premium for an item you purchased through their website? I have never heard of this arrangement before.

ebay message boards
You can post about this on the appropriate eBay message board(s) to find out if others have been charged this fee and to get advice. You'll probably get some useless information in addition to maybe some good help, but it's worth a try.
The boards are on the "Community" link at the top right of any eBay page. Good luck.

Live Chat,
You should be able to get more immediate response with "live chat". There's a link tucked away somewhere. A bizzare circumstance...almost mob like.
Another thing to watch out for is relisting fee credit. If you relist an unsold item and it sells, eBay drops the relisting fee. Must use the link they provide, which I did. When I reviewed my invoice, they didn't do their end. Be hawk eyed!
Even more...Just learned our beloved IRS is now requiring photos of dontations made to charities (furniture, clothes etc). Plus the deduction is down from 20% to 10%. Anyone confirm this?

i'm almost sick of ebay
i am a seller on ebay. i'm tired of all the fees plus i have also had the trouble of them not taking charges off after my item sells the second time. it's also such a pain now with shipping charges so high on the vintage furniture i sell, the post office changed the rules on size and it was a costly change. i get many lookers (like over 200 on many of the pieces) and lots of questions about how much shipping is but nobody wants to pay so much to ship. i think i'm going to find a different way to sell. live help is the way to go to get help. it is on the home page in the left hand corner.
