I want to put a ceiling medallion up behind a Nelson saucer lamp in my living room (14x35, the large size at Modernica) When the fan comes down there will be some ceiling damage and I like the idea of mixing Victorian & MCM.
Can anyone give some advice as to what size medallion to use? The ceiling paint will be bright white and wrap down to the top of the molding on the walls, any thoughts on leaving the medallion white or painting it? First 2 pictures are from the real estate listing, third one is the room in progress (just to reassure you the two tone couch is not mine). Its a large angled space with 12 foot ceilings.
Don't worry the curtains are coming down soon and the room will be painted. The drapes are maroon and gold plaid, they might make excellent pants?
.
Doesn't a ceiling plate come with the lamp? I'd keep it minimal, unobtrusive, plain. I know what you mean with the victorian/modern idea but I don't think it will end up being executed well
and... I think it's the BRAND of the pants that matters (in this case), not the actual pattern/design. Nice thought though...
Consumer behavior... is depressing-
the carpet...
does need to go, it makes swishy sounds like astro turf when you walk on it (it has been cleaned)
The Nelson has a small disc medallion, maybe 6 inches across. The house has knob and tube wiring and my inspector said the fan, as is, is dangerous/illegal and needs new wiring and a box behind it (it currently doesn't even work).
I'm guessing I'll end up with more that 6 inches of damage on the ceiling and don't want that to be highlighted by the awesome that is the light.
99 problems...
