So a little off the typical, I went to see Danish band The Raveonettes[always a favorite of mine] last night and aside from being one of the best shows I've ever been to bar-none out of literally hundreds, i couldnt help noticing the bold simplicity of there set. Everything from the backdrop to their symmetry in lay out to their manner on stage and so on seemed to fall right in line with a lot of the characteristics in there design...and it would almost seem that this "complex simplicity" is just in there blood....anyone have something to relate? i.e. movies/music/media.....
p.s. if you get a chance to check them out, take it..you wont be disappointed and you wont feel old, they bring a diverse crowd....but do take some ear plugs!!!

Huh?
Their stage setup in the video is very simple (and also reminded me very much of the early Beatles stages, like on the Ed Sullivan show). But that video?? Yikes---really busy and cluttered!
I don't know about simplicity being in the blood over there. We lived in Denmark for a year and I saw plenty of households full of frou-frou and clutter. Also, most stores that Danes shop in regularly are filled with the same sort of junk that you find in the US.
Their nice stuff, on the other hand, is really, really nice.
