We are redoing a 450 sq. ft. den (+/- '( sq. m.) in a decidedly Danish Modern style. Warm and natural. Period-built ranch-style slanted ceiling with faux beams & knotty pine slats and flagstone fireplace. It will be used more as a living room (schmoozing & hanging out) than as a den (ie there will be a hidden stereo but no TV or billiard table...)
One opinion for the floor is a light-grey epoxy coated flooring, poured in 4 coats. The other opinion is for wood parquet. What do you think?
If you like the wood option, what sort of wood, what finish and what pattern? THANKS!
PS we are having a built-in Haywood-Wakefield (esque) wall unit put in with boomerang shelves, in maple. Grasscloth on the longest wall and up above the fireplace. Faux beams painted off-white. Authentic Danish Modern furniture elsewhere in room.
I agree.
The color and texture of cork would probably go well with the other ingredients mentioned.
Wood parquet: Do you really want more wood, of a color not necessarily comfortable with what you have in the room already (including the Danish furnishings) ?
Grey epoxy: Too bland ? Might be all right, though. . .especially with some textiles on the floor. Rya rug ? Flokati ?
