maybe a thread to share what we find online? This pottery is excellent, anyone got any ideas about it? Arne Bang, I should use my eyes.

Nice idea, Heath!
I love the often industrial shapes of Arne Bang's works. I saw this house recently on the net, Casa Hermeroscopium outside Madrid. I would love to live there. I have a thing for factory-like houses in dirty concrete.

That pottery reminds me
of the drinking glasses I've collected over the years. I have posted them a couple of times, but hardly anybody commented.
They're marked ITALY

funny, the pottery remnded me of Karl Blossfeldts photographs, more organic than machine, though I suppose they are at least part machine made so its tricky to say.
I like the ribs on Barrys glasses and the Bang vessels, I might try it in wood one day on my new (yay!) lathe, which has an indexing plate for routing and drilling into pieces in set radial positions (couldn't help mentionng that).
The look of that house is very nice to my eyes too. I've often wondered if pre-abricated housing couldn't be made from concrete culverts and columns.

I've seen a lot of turned wood bowls over the years, there was a crazed fashion for them about 14 years years when every man and his dog was making them, so I'm not easily impressed, but sometimes its done incredibly well. I think this one is laminated.

Good to hear you're doing it! I'm sure woodturnings time will come again. The best thing is that you can use wood most furniture makers wouldn't even touch. I used to do it a lot when I was a teenager though as I discovered yesterday I'm a bit rusty now. Packed the base with concrete tiles to weigh it down but there is still a little vibration coming through a very poor tool rest.
I'll post when I've done something decent on it if you do 🙂
I'm not usually that excited by bowl turning but I've allways thought that the profile of the Kosta Boda 'atoll' bowl would translate well into wood.

Andos Azuma house, no exterior windows. This my sort of place! Its not low maintenance, its no maintenance.
No grass to mow, no carpets to vacuum, no paint to get damaged. Leaves you free to do the important things in life, like eating blue cheese and flicking through design books.
