I am thinking of buying myself something for passing my specialty medical boards. I just discovered mondern mid-century furniture and I am obsessed! I love owning something with historical value that I will cherish my entire life.
I would love to own a cado unit or the baughman desk. I have a place for each of them, but cant afford both. If I finally decide on a cado, how can I tell a real one? Are there any impersonators out there? Has anyone seen this unique Baughman desk for sale?
I have seen that desk...
I have seen that desk attributed to Baughman a few times,I cant say for certain its by him but they tend to go for around the 1800-2500 mark on ebay from what ive seen.
You can always email thayer coggin and ask them, they are generally quite helpful at IDing pieces of theirs.
Personally I would say that that desk would be a very good buy as it will always be saleable/desireable.
cado
Killian, I bought the desk. I am so excited and holding my breath that it will arrive in good condition.
I saw someone mention a ps systems that resembles cado and evoloved into an ikea-like. I cant find a pic. of this system. How would I tell it apart from a cado? I am not ready to spend the money for the cado, as I bought the desk, but I would still like to learn about them for when I am ready to purchase one.
Thanks!
There
are several other wall systems that employ a similar method of hanging modular units (i'e from battens) such as PS Systems, but that doesn't make them 'fake' Cado.
PS were a cheaper brand, there were other makers of similar systems too.
A lot of them marked 'Made In Denmark'
Cado are double pegged angled fixings. PS, for instance, are horizontal metal dowel fixings..and the units are of a lesser quality.
You're going to have to look at a few to learn the differences, but mostly, I think, if something is being sold as Cado it will be
