Anyone have any suggestions on good books out there? I know it's like asking for a good cookbook - much depends on personal taste, etc.

I just recently read Julius Shulman's Architecture and Its Photography which was interesting. I actually just ordered the Arts and Architecture magazine reprint that was just released.

I plan to read about the classics as much as I can. I'd also be interested in some tips on some more contemporary books that would include new building materials, methods, etc.

I would start......
...with
Modern Architecture, a critical history by Kenneth Frampton.
and...
Theory and Design in the First Machine Age by Reyner Banham.
As far as recent architecture and new materials are concerned I would rely on good architectural magazines rather than books.
