thanks for the photos
In comparing the photos you posted to the chairs I purchased, I am now pretty certain that mine are knock-offs. Thanks for taking the time to posts the photos.

waywardvintage, thanks also for your input. i believe the tag said "Eames" and not "Eames style". the store kept those. my receipt says "Eames Molded Plywood Chair in Black".
Your suggestion for posting photos did not really show up in the thread right but I guess I have no need to re-post my photos.

Martha's photos
of the black chair reveal enough detail to determine that the chair is not the work of Herman Miller or Vitra. Three details: the top of the spine is rounded over; the portion of the spine that's attached to the back is too short; the other bends in the spine are too "soft." The photos were taken too close to the chair, which distorts perspective, so it's a bit difficult to judge shapes of seat and back, but these may differ as well.
The allen-head fasteners are the final tip-off that this is not an original. Thanks for the look . . . !

also if the store
also if the store listed them as real i would call them and ask them why they sold you fake furniture. Buyer beware but retailers are also not supposed to list items as the authentic thing when they are unsure. I have see "Eames Style plywood chair" which is must different from them claiming that it is the real deal...Still cool chairs but I would definitely see about returning them or trying to get some sort of discount....
That brings me to another good point...dont buy stuff before you post it on here o_O! i would have bought a lot of crap that was worth next to nothing if I didn't have user feedback.

follow up
I called the consignment store today. They said that they were not trying to pass off the chairs as authentic Eames LCW chairs at that price and that if I had just inquired they certainly would set me straight. Even though their policy is all sales final, they said I could return the chairs as they are not in the business to deceive folks. They were very nice about it and as a result I am probably going to buy some other merchandise I had my eye on when I take the chairs back!
Thanks again to all who responded to my post.

Determining authenticity of an eames DCW
Hello everyone,
In reading over these forums I can tell there are some very knowledgeable readers who know a lot about Eames chairs.
I am looking into purchasing an Eames dining chair wood (DCW) and have been in contact with one buyer extensively but would like to be certain of its authenticity before I take the next step. The chair can be seen here: (edited by DA - no links to items for sale please). The seller has offered several tidbits regarding screw patterns, color, imprints etc. that seem to suggest its authenticity but I cannot be sure.
Note: I realize the pictures posted right now are lacking, I have been in contact with the owner about getting higher resolution ones but she has yet to respond...
Thanks for you help!

It looks to be a knock-off.
but maybe I'm wrong? The scale looks clumsy, and the veneer doesn't look applied correctly. And the screws look a bit off, as some should be flat-head phillips, and some should be rounded, I think.
But....???? Maybe not.

rear legs have flat screws
it looks correct to me, the front legs and seat are attached with round head screws while the rear legs are attached with the countersunk flat head screws.

.
The veneers on DCWs vary very widely. Vintage ones can be matched sort of relatively crudely.
