I just acquired two chairs at a furniture consignment store that were labeled as "Eames molded plywood chairs". The chairs are black, have circular shock mounts, 11 screws on the bottom and two on the back. There is no label. My concern is that the fasteners are allen head type screws. Does this mean they are not authentic Eames LCW chairs?

Hi
Can you post larger photos and from different angles?
The shape does look off based on the first pic.

Yes
It's difficult to judge from the small photos, but assuming there is no weird wide-angle or distortion on them, I'd say the chairs are not Herman Miller. Take a look at these photos for comparison -- the shape of the back rest, the stance of the legs, etc.

not saying it is fake. I am no herman miller expert but I personally did not think the LCW was origionaly ever painted...I have however seen reproductions painted...there are several on ebay for about 200 bucks... http://cgi.ebay.com/Mahogany-LCW-Lounge-Chair-Replica-/390298610119?pt=A...
And did the tag read "eames style" chair? I have been in shops where they were selling reproductions as authentic pieces and the person selling was a dealer of MCM furniture...you have to be careful sometimes. even the experts can sometimes be dishonest or just as uninformed as you.

Also looking under the seat you do not see such an exaggerated angle on your like you do to the original. Yours shows more of a natural curve while the Herman Miller has more of a ridged angled piece of ply under the back portion of the seat.

Edited by DA : this is the correct way to post a picture on the forum:
You can easily add up to 3 images per post. First, your images must be
hosted on the internet. If you don't have your own server, you can easily
host your pictures on websites like Photobucket, which is free.
To associate your images to your message, place the url of your images in
the 'associate web image' field in the submission form.
If the image is hosted on your server, the url will look like this:

Add only the direct link. There's no need to add fancy codes like [IMG]
