I think it would be interesting to see how such things as luck, karma, coincidence, etc. has factored into your vintage buying experiences.
One of mine happened 3 years ago when I was fairly new to the danish modern scene. I was in love with teak furniture and was searching the local craigslist when I saw an ad for some 40 yr. old wide plank teak boards that were passed from a father to his son. I phoned and arranged to see them, which involved a ferry ride and an hour's car-ride. When I got there the fellow was having a garage sale and he told me they had been sold as he was sceptical about people actually showing up when they promised to. He felt sorry and took me around the side of his house to show me some teak shelves he was throwing out and I could have for free. The shelves were all damaged beyond practical repair with the rear triangular supports broken off and missing. They came with 4 metal supports. I took them home and searched the internet and found they were the FM system by Kai Kristiansen.
Two years later I walk into an antique store and spot a whole load of FM rosewood shelves, boxes and drawers. There were no metal brackets and so were hard to sell. I felt they were just sitting there waiting for me to come along.
great story 🙂 !
I scourced...
great story 🙂 !
I scourced a FM system and am now talking with the owner.
In his fifties-sixties house I also spotted gio pontis superleggera chairs, all the rest was renewed in a fake antique-style...
the units have a rosewood finish and come with their original backpanels.
Anybody else owner of this wonderfull piece of furniture? Show some pics if you can.
