So, there is hope.
If not, you will just have to consign yourself to assigning him his own man room where he can go wild and put his Lazy Boy and other treasured items. Make sure he keeps track of all of his mahogany association numbers in case any of it ever appreciates.

woodywood - Lit Up is correct
This is exactly what I did. My girlfriend enjoys all the modern items in my home and I have transfered enough to furnish her home "in the lifestyle I have become accustomed to". The usual suspects "Knoll Pfister seating sytems, Fritz Hansen PK seating, Venini lighting" and everything (and I mean everything)else it take to complete a home. It helps if both people have means.

The first one's free
All you need to do is discover a few well-designed pieces that he likes, and make presents of them.
Every design addiction begins with a single beloved piece. This "gateway design" can be especially effective if it's part of a larger collection (dinnerware, Higgins, Murano, etc.).
