Is this just an aging patina thing?
Are all new ones as "busting at the seams" while the only ones look crinkly?
The description of the newer one
says it has urethane foam cushions.
The description on the older one says it has down cushions, and someone who is shopping for a vintage Eames chair would know that down loses its fluff as it ages so the cushions look more slack.
Also, people who use down pillows, down comforters, and/or down jackets know that down becomes less fluffy over time.
That's why these two chairs look different.
Ok, so older ones will look...
Ok, so older ones will look deflated because they are down filled. So, does that make them less comfortable? I'd think deflated down would be a big negative, right?
What's better? Brand new urethane foam or down that has been compressed for 40 years?
Do the newer ones with urethane foam cushions feel a lot different than what new down filled cushions felt? When did they make this switch?
Cushion 101
"Wrinkly" =...
Cushion 101
"Wrinkly" = looser tailored/less fill soft casual comfortable appearance
"Taut/tight" = tighter tailored/more fill firmer more well tailored appearance
You have access to the fills, they can be augmented at minimal cost to meet individual preference.
FIVE CENTS PLEASE
and something about internet slime, it keeps oozing-
...
or maybe not, now that I think about those tufts, I don't own one of these chairs yet or examine them too often, I suggest go to a store that sells these (and buy one THERE).
Most cushions you wanna fluff 'em back up you add some Dacron and you is good, practically speaking
(choking sound)
