I picked up this beautiful (at least in my opinion) wood and marble coffee table and am hoping someone may be able to provide me with some more info about both the type of wood and the designer. After much searching, I haven't been able to find anything like it. There are some really nice details that indicate its quality, but I am at a loss. If it helps, the marble is marked Italy, but I don't know if this provides insight into the origin of the piece or just the marble. There are some other markings under the table as well. It has some similarity to pieces by Dunbar, but that's just my novice observation. Does anyone have any insights? I am extremely grateful for any help.

I am a total sucker
for that type of table. Is there a patent # anywhere? No makers marks obviously.
the Italy on the marble really doesn't help one bit. Nice simple design.

No patent number. The only markings are the ones in the pics. Anyone know the type of wood? The finish is pretty inconsistent, as can be seen in a couple of the photos. I was thinking of a light refinishing, but am not sure. Thoughts?

Tree species.
Can't really tell from your photos, but if it's American (Lane, Drexel, etc.), it's likely walnut.
