The base is seperated from the top half of the chair and have been told there is no damage to the wood. How difficult is it to reatach?

looks like rosewood to me...I believe there is a rosewood substitute called Palisander, which appears in later pieces.

isn't palissander just another name for rosewood?
here in europe we say palissander.
