Much better
The H base is what the Nelson office choose for the dining room set at the Kirkpatrick houses full pad cover, wire, dining chairs.
At first I was a little sad that they did't spec something a little more exciting but now I can't imagine them any other way.

Hmm
Perhaps it is the angle of the photo, but those chairs on those particular H bases look too reclined for dining purposes.

Recline
They really do look quite reclined, more so than the h bases that I have. I wonder if it is just the year of manufacture? Those bases have the black feet on them and mine have white.... I wonder what year those wire chairs would be? When I bought these chairs I also was thinking that the h base was boring and looked like a "school chair" to me but now that I have one sitting on an h base and one on a dowel base I find my eye drawn to the chair with the h base thinking more and more that this was the intended look for these chairs.

'57 or so
They are low bases to match the table height ( which is lower than standard). Slip on boot glides.
