Hi. I don't know whether the answer to my question is simple or complicated but there's something puzzling me.
I really like the fabrics designed by Girard but it seems to be very hard, if not impossible, finding any vintage pieces of fabric from Girard/Herman Miller.
If I wanted vintage fabric by European designers like Verner Panton or Lucienne Day it is not nearly as hard to find or expensive as vintage fabric by Girard (beside his Hopsack range).
Maybe it's because I'm based in Europe where vintage Girard items are basicly non-existing. However I do wonder if it's equally as hard for collectors and fans of mid century in the US?
If yes, it would surprise me. I have an impressison that Girard's fabric designs were quite popular back in the day but maybe not much of it has survived?

Maybe less of it was made?
I have not seen much of any vintage designer fabric around at all, though.
I think it was popular on certain furniture but I don't think it was anything like the fabrics that were used on Danish pieces. There were many more Danish designs produced than there were Knoll, right? Ergo, lots more of those fabrics were produced and therefore more unused yardage sitting around waiting to be snapped up.
I'm grateful that at least many of the good ones are still in production.
