Who's Ditlef of Danmark?

This set was bought in Copenhagen at Den Permanente in 1970. I was really too young then to know anything about design and designers. I bought this set just because it was so stunning. Even after 40 years the glaze is still like it was new. The set is made out of raw dark brown stoneware and glazed in an indescribable remarkable color pattern.

My wife and I started using this set but found that it was much too heavy to use. As an example the 15" serving plate weighs 5.5 pounds and each soup bowl with lid weighs 1.6 pounds. So the set was used for a year or so and then put away and stored.

Each piece is engraved with a signature that reads "DITLEF.DANMARK" So my question who is Ditlef? I tried but never found anything on him. Thanks to all!
