Firstly; is there a good online alternative dedicated to selling designer furniture ,and objects?One that deals internationally ,and not just for local sales.
I feel that Ebay with their new feedback changes coming into affect isn't worth selling on now.I can't go to a site like amazon because I usually sell mid century furniture.
Anyways; does anyone else here feel that there should be a site dedicated to the sale of designer ,and mid century artifacts.

there ain't any website that's as good.
Nowhere will you have the chance to see more items and if you post an item for sale, nowhere else will you get as many potential bidders.
Nope, they've got the market cornered. Yahoo tried but no one cared.
If a design auction website started up that was similar to eBay, I'd check 'em out, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Why IS Ebay
changing the feedback system? I read that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers. I don't even sell on ebay, and I think it's crap. Sellers should be able to warn each other about buyers who don't pay up, etc. Same with buyers. They should be able to warn others about poor sellers. If buyers can leave negative feedback then sellers should be able to also, IMHO.

Yes, it's true. In other words:
if a buyer fails to completely read your item description and complains about whatever they missed,
OR leaves you negative feedback because he/she didn't like how much they were billed by Customs, because you refused to lie on the Customs forms about the value of the item like they demanded,
OR if they complain they didn't receive their item in a week (eventhough they only wanted to pay for surface shipping from US to Japan)
OR if they give you a bum check,
OR if they do a credit card chargeback (after you tell them that their item shipped),
You, the seller, can do nothing to warn others.... nothing.
Everyone of these scenarios has happened to me or someone I know who has sold on eBay. I personally have eBay settings to block bidders with minus (-) value feedbacks, but I guess that doesn't mean anything anymore.

Thanks for the link. The changes they made are really odd, I'd only guess there are reasons for it. Although it's been fought and won, before we know it we'll have to pay taxes on what we buy and sell off Ebay. I noticed, while doing my online California tax filing, they want you to pay CA tax on items you purchased tax-free from other states.
What if......
in a show of protest, we all don't list anything for a short period of time. Kinda like the "Don't Buy Gas Day" or "Buy Nothing Day", but opposite.... "Don't Sell on eBay Week".
I think the majority of sellers list periodically anyways. What would happen if most, if not all, of eBay's sellers and cherished PowerSellers (their bread and butter) stopped listing items for one week.... In this one week, eBay would feel a dramatic decrease in income from their listing and final value fees.
Maybe then they would start to give a damn.
What do you think? Should we start spreading the word? Last week in Feb?
The earlier feedback system was also wack...
The new feed back system sounds totally crazy....
Still, the earlier system was not perfect either.
In fact it was completely useless, since everyone left positive feedback for each other out of fear of otherwise getting negative 'retaliation feedback'.
The only honest feedback system, would be if seller and buyer were unable to see each others feedback until it was given from both sides first.

I can't even get into discussing this whole fiasco because it makes my blood boil since my wife and I make a good portion of our living on ebay but, there is already lots of talk of sellers not listing items for a week in February (not just 2 days) as well as a petition that is floating around which got over 4,000 signatures in just a few hours yesterday. If any change is going to happen then efforts will have to be consolidated so everyone is doing the same boycotting methods at the same time.
As a seller and a buyer
I dont agree with Ebay's new policy - I think buyers and sellers should be responsible for their own action and should have some method by which that respobsibility can be known to others. As a buyer AND a seller I have 100% positive feedback. I'm not a big time dealer or buyer, but I've done enough to know that as long as you're courteous and honest it isnt difficult to get good feedback.
That being said, I've also had an instance of a seller trying to cover his own ass by threatening me with bad feedback - something that was wholly undeserved - if I complained about his crappy product. Luckily I'd had enough experience with Ebay to know that a) thats against the rules and b) where and how to report him.
