I purchased a laurel lamp recently, and it is clearly missing what I assume to be a shade.  I'm also struggling to see how a shade would mount to the mounting hardware on the lamp.  The metal piece spanning across, under the socket, is springy and it extends just barely beyond the bottom disk.i would love to know what it should look like, and what all I may be missing. Thanks so much . . . I very much look forward to having this site as a resource!

I am guessing that a white globe goes there.  Those "springy" pieces would catch the lip to hold it on I assume.

jdip is right - a small frosted globe is what fits on there, I've seen one with an original (I asssume) globe stickered "made in italy". The lamp itself was marked laurel.
If I find the picture I will post it.

Thank you all so much!  I was thinking that a round globe might be the right thing, but it pleases me greatly to know for sure.  The odds of finding an original may be slim to none, but knowing what it looks like, and having the size from the catalog will allow me to keep it as authentic as possible, which is very important to me.
So anyone with a spare "6080 6" opal glass globe" . . . just give me a ring 🙂
On another note . . . shouldn't there be a switch somewhere?  The cord does show a splice.  Maybe there was a switch in the cord originally?
Thank you all again!

Heya
my original post went missing. Weird
here is a pic from the laurel catalog of the lamp.
note that while  laurel globes turn up on eBay occasionally they are usually the 8" floor lamp size not this 6" size.  I think sourcing an original will be difficult.
