There's a number of pieces available in Europe, but not sold in the U.S. - for example the Nelson daybed, the Nelson tray table and the Eames LaFonda black slate table from Vitra, Europe.
Since Design Addict is based in Belguim, it would be nice for one of the European website stores to realize that they can make money by offering these not-available-in-the-U.S. products in such a way that we can afford to order them (you know, organize U.S. shipping options, etc.)
In the case of the above Vitra items listed above, the folks at Herman Miller do not care if they're sold to U.S. buyers.
Anybody have a reasonably affordable website suggestion?
Many thanks
Dear barrympls...
Your proposal might make sense, I would not know, I am not that eager to buy Nelson's Daybed but I am surprised about your quick judgement on the DA forum. Your proposal might be realistic and interesting but it is not something you pull out of a hat. Trans-atlantic trade, with the current E.U. burocracy is not solved between a posting on the 19th and a reaction on the 20th.
Come to think of it...maybe the speed by which north-americans want to act makes the more patient europeans reluctant...
I hope you get positive reactions to your proposal...but give it some time.
Yes, indeedy
I actually called the nice people at Herman Miller and asked if they chose to pass on distributing the Nelson tray table in the US, why wouldn't they allow Vitra to sell it here?
Andy at Herman Miller honestly did not know, but since Herman Miller and Vitra have a long-standing partnership for Vitra to actually manufacturer some of the Herman Miller pieces, it would be reasonable to allow Vitra to sell the Nelson tray table, the Nelson daybed and the Eames LaFonda slate table here in the US.
It is confusing, really....(I don't think that liscencing is the issue.)
