What was Povl Dinesen?

I'd naively assumed Povl Dinesen was a maker of furniture, then I saw a few references to pieces marked France and Søn and Povl Dinesen, and started wondering how that is possible: So, was Povl Dinesen a maker, retailer, or both? (Or something else my little mind can't think of)
And a more specific follow-up question: why is Povl Dinesen's mark also on the below linked Minerva tables?

Povl Dinesen was a Danish furniture distributor that exported to US (and I assume other countries). I have once of their catalogs and other ancillary sales materials...great stuff.

Thanks for the information. So any piece that has Povl Dinesen's mark categorically was not made by Povl Dinesen, because they only distributed other maker's wares.

Povl Dinesen was my maternal grandfather. He made furniture and was also a retailer of furniture. He sold a lot of his furniture to recently married American GIs who were returning back to the US to make new homes. Paul Bou-Habib

Hi Paul, Welcome to the forum. It is great to have first hand knowledge around here! I am extremely curious about him as a designer and cabinetmaker. Do you or the family have any information (catalogs, photos, etc) of Povl?
