seriously, sometimes
Some threads are thought provoking and serious and hopefully relevant or enriching to ones interests or profession. Those are a great way to share info or glean some.
Then there are hilarious threads (generally around the BUSINESS of design) that are fun places to verbally muck about and poke fun. Those are important too, because it is a catharsis of sorts to comment on how stupid it can all become.
Then the sad searches for even better Chinese knockoff furniture. It is also interesting to see that that realm of business is not abating and how the legit production is going toward the if-you-can't-beatem-joinem approach.
The forum seems richer than previously, at least to me. And God forbid it become politically correct or censored or staid and academic.

Coach
My wife, who collects Coach purses, made me get a pair of Coach Sandals today to wear to a Wedding we are attending. Mark this day, June 6th 2007, as the day I turned in my Nike sandals and replaced them with Coach. Although i'm not really a purse person(man bag good, purse bad), they have some nice designs and we have a nearby Coach outlet that has several items you don't see in the regular stores. And yes this is true. and yes this will hopefully resteer the post.

James...
Are they the floral ones i have seen somewhere? good of you to brighten up the wedding party. The last wedding (yet another couple who believe in father christmas) i attended was a laugh as the organist didnt show up and the vicar led the singing by playing a harmonica, the bride who came as a fairy or whatever (themed do) was in tears but everyone else thought it was great fun! esp. the choirboys who could not stop laughing, and when we were leaving the gig the brides mother fell over on her face and broke a tooth!...more hysterical laughter. Who is Norris by the way?,i know a Norris but i doubt its the same chap.

No Flowers this time!
I got the same ones that are in the auction link, but cheaper at DSW. I was surprised to find that I perfectly fit into a size 12, thats rare for me. With a flexed bicep and deep manly voice and can honestly say "Yes, I have Coach sandals, but no flowers this time".

i hope you dont think that not using personal attacks in any way would make this forum p.c. or staid or boring. you can talk about any subject under the sun and be in complete dissagreement with anyone else without a personal slight. these ideas of yours do not follow it seems to me. the only thing being civil would restrict is venting and personal attacks. those i find boring, uninformative and in the end destructive to this forum. and breaking a dish would be so much faster.

On sandals and forum happiness
James, I've always beena big Merrell fan meself. After breaking my ankle rather badly a few years back practical footwear has become my modus operandi...but sometimes I miss some of the funkier footware of days gone by. No Coach for me but my battered doc-martens from my punk years molder quietly in the back of my closet...can't bear to part with them.
About the forum I can only humbly thank Alix and Patrick for all they have given us here. I think of you all as a sort of far-flung extended family...a somewhat disfunctional, eloquently opinionated, contentious, but creative and well-versed family that bickers and rhapsodizes on its passions and conceits. In short, I love this place!
