OK, just got 4 of these chairs at a garage sale. Love 'em, they look great I think. Just wondering if anyone has seen them before, or maybe knows a thing or two about them.

No labels, marks, nothing. The cushions have been recovered and the original material and labels were removed them, so no dice on that. Anyone got any ideas?

Cool, thanks!

great find!
Kai Christiansen, Denmark. I had a set of six in rosewood with the original black leather seats. I paid $350 hammer price for them and a rosewood table with two leaves, which was a very good price.
I loved the chairs for their looks and comfort, but unfortunately the design isn't very sturdy. Ours got wobbly and I was always worried about people scooting them on the floor while sitting in them. Eventually I sold them and got some N. O. Møller chairs instead.
(edited to fix spelling of designer's name)

spanky, thanks so much! I knew this forum could help me out. You hit the nail on the head regarding the wobbliness of them. I think I may use a syringe to try and add some glue in the joints. I guessing there was glue in there to begin with, as they don't come apart with just the screws removed from the legs, but there is a lot of play in the joints there.
Anyways, do you by any chance remember if your cushions had strapping in them, or if it was a solid piece of wood with a cushion, or what? Mine have strapping (which seems a little old and hard now and may be replaced), but I'm trying to figure out what is closest to original as I may end up reupholstering them with a leather of some sort.
Thanks again for the ID. And I'll say, while I loved them when I bought them just on their looks, I think I love them a little bit more knowing I got a sweet deal, haha.

I redid all of mine because...
I redid all of mine because the leather was shot on some and the webbing had lost all its stretch. Some of them had been used more than others and it was like sitting in potholes. Not nice.
Anyway, there was rubber webbing covered with 1/2" to 1" thick latex foam. I redid them with high density foam and that elastic webbing that has a woven look---not the solid Pirelli type. And then I put Unika Vaev "Wink" fabric over that because I loved how it looked with the rosewood.
The seats were easy enough to do. You should get a webbing stretcher if you plan to do it yourself. It's really hard to stretch the webbing taut enough and hold it in place while you tack it down. Either get another pair of hands or the tool! The tool isn't expensive, just an hourglass-shaped piece of flat wood with some spikes in the end.
The backrests were trickier. They had a thinner layer of foam over plywood and then thin cotton batting over the foam, I think...or maybe not. The hard part was the back cover--thin cardboard with leather glued to it and welt around the edge. I skipped the welt and just glued the whole cover piece to the chair back with contact cement. I had to clamp the edges down, which left dents in the front but the foam recovered after a bit. I had to be extremely careful to avoid getting contact cement where it would show. That meant applying it right up to the edge of where the cover would go. It had to go on both surfaces in order to make a good bond. What a PAIN that was. Stunk, too. Don't re-cover the backs if you don't have to!
