Visited the beautiful and inspiring Warton Esherick House museum today and took a few photos. Unfortunately, photography is not permitted inside the house (which is absolutely amazing). Highly recommend the visit if you are ever in the area.

How did that garage door operate -- sliding panels ? Or is that a separate passage door that's open ?

Good question. I believe the garage doors originally opened up similar to a barn (double doors) and/or by folding panels. I could be wrong about that though. The original garage door is now a stationary wall and the door on the side serves as the entrance into the museum reception / shop.

Esherick was a visionary.
I don't think I've ever seen anything he made that I didn't like. The man understood wood and the nature and essence of craft.
You're lucky, Woody. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like
it was a lovely spring day -- and the property seems immaculate.
Too bad no interior photos. I saw the interior stair erected temporarily at the Craft Museum in NY, in the 'fifies (?).
One of these photos shows it signed and dated -- 1930.

Oh, yeah !
Extremely strange and interesting stuff -- the essence of "organic" ?
His nephew was esteemed San Francisco architect Joseph Esherick -- Esherick, Homsey, Dodge, and Davis
