Does anyone here have experience with this style countertop?
It's called waterfall as the countertop continues to turn down the side of cabinetry & meets the floor, for those unfamilar. It's depicted in many modern designed mags.

House is mid-century modern w/lots of floor to ceiling windows - a lot of light. Living room & Kitchen is small but a very open plan - essentially one room.
Wanting to down play the kitcheny appearance by avoiding the end cabinets facing the living room area & that's where the cool stone meeting the floor comes in.
Considering shiny surface Ceasar stone however my biggest concern is possible reflection from so much light.
I've heard honed countertops do not wear as well & will show smudges & stains more easily too.

Any suggestions, or thoughts?
Thanks

Glare is a valid concern. Actual field conditions vary. Verify the exposure of the surfaces. The solar altitude varies by season. Use a mirror if you can for a light study. Then decide how much a factor glare plays in your finish selection. The exposed end panels of wall & base cabinets can be unsightly if not addressed properly. There are other matte finishes available that does not compromise durability. Check the stone manufacturer's product datas. Have you considered other materials? A low wall partition w/ a different applied/mounted finish at the base cabinet may accomplish your goal. Or a short return, not necessarily stud/gyp.bd. construction, aligned w/the cabinet faces w/ appropriate/non obstrusive finish may work. Look at Sweets catalog online for varying panel materials. Explore manuf. cab. fin., depending on the cabinet manuf. you selected, you may have other finishes available. You definetely have other choices & approaches to what you are trying to accomplish. Maybe even more cost effective. Good Luck.

Uasrem2,
Thank you for reply, it is appreciated.
As an example, if you've seen Bulthaups European kitchen designs they'll sometimes use the countertop material to finish the cabinet ends that face into a living space . . that's what appeals to me. Extremely expensive line but it's the look I'm going to create. Completely agree with your point regarding a glare, in which case a honed finish would be in order.
Thanks!

like this?
It is a nice way to keep that end of the counter clear of stools, etc.
This one is tucked into the kitchen area but the same idea.
And this one seems polished on top and left honed on the down side.
A link to the site is under the photo. If you explore the archives under the
interiors section you might find more examples. I didn't go very deep into it.
