A matter which has
much to do with execution, but perhaps also with design, is that perfection -- or some kind of beauty, at least -- seems to me to be the absence of error or fault (ugly wood grain, or an unfaired curve, or simple damage, for instance).

such faults distract the eye and the mind from the appreciation of the form (and function ?) of the object. . .
