When Walter Lamb "assimilated" the designs of Robert Lewis by tracing the frames in Lewis's arm chairs in the the Lewis' back yard and one need only to place a Lewis Chair next to one of Walter Lamb's early arm chairs to see this. That Kipp Stewart while working at the Brown Jordan factory during college would be influenced by the Walter Lamb designs that he was assembling seems fairly natural and part of the evolution of design. The Stewart designs are more sophisticated than the Lamb with their oval and infinity references and the Lamb designs are a post-war step beyond the Lewis arts/crafts - machine age reference that distinguishes them. If one could have happened without its predecessor it is possible but the reality is that the designs of these 3 men are and always will be related.
