Is anyone familiar with Volo Design and the quality of their sofas? I'm considering buying their Freeman sofa in distressed leather; it seems to be built for comfort and endurance but they only sell online and I'm hesitant to buy a sofa which I haven't tried. They claim their prices are low becuase they cut the middlemen. $1899 for this 90" wide sofa... Is the quality like Pottery Barn or more like Restoration Hardware? Thanks!

I don't have any personal experience with this company, but the kiln-dried hardwood frame is at least a good sign. It doesn't say whether the frame is corner-blocked. I would assume so, but it might be worth confirming. Perhaps someone else could confirm whether this is the case, but my understanding is that webbing is a cheaper and less durable alternative to coil and sinuous springs. You might also want to get a sample of the fabric, to check the quality.
If it helps at all, I purchased a Mitchell and Gold 89" Cara sofa last year. It is a bit more expensive, but I can vouch for its quality. It has a corner-blocked kiln-dried hardwood frame, sinuous seat springs, and webbing back (if I remember correctly). We have used it daily for over a year and, aside from some marks from a cat, it looks like it did the day we bought it.
Buying a sofa online is obviously a bit risky from a comfort perspective. The sofa we bought is  more firm than we imagined it would be. We are really happy with it, but if you are picky about comfort, you might want to stick to something you can test drive.
Hope I helped.

I'm interested in this sofa as well. Did you end up buying it?

Heehee. Thanks for the thought Aunt M. The material works for me. I have dogs, puppies so it must be leather and if it's already distressed, I won't get distressed when it gets more scratched up!
