Is Vitra's version of this particular model true to the original design?

I recall a dicussion on this a while back, but can't seem to find the thread.

I thought all
of the Vitra reissues are true to the original, albeit minus the cord.

My knowledge of the originals is very limited (and they are rarely seen over here).
It may have been the Chronopak specifically. Does that seem likely? Below is the Vitra reissue.

Looks essentially the same, just doesn't have any patina.
Here is one with a different style hour hand.
I think I prefer the brass face version myself.

Yes, it was the Chronopak base. Why did Vitra make it oval?
The Night Clock and the Tripod. I like them both. This is the Vitra Tripod for comparison:
