Excuse the grammar error," I hesitate to sat an original La Chaise' was supposed to say " I hesitate to say an original La Chaise"
Sorry to hear you sold it so cheap, though it was likely a reproduction, and the Gallery or auction who sold it to you should be reported. If it was sold as a real Vitra, they should have had to verify this for you. If they had I am sure you would have sold it for much more, but if they could not, and were an authorized Gallery, they would have only had to refund your $2,500 which you got anyway.
I have seen Vitra's with a chip, unrepaired, similar to mine sell for thousands more than you got. If you contacted the seller with no response, their name should be released. When spending money like we spend on collectables, it causes one to hesitate to bid with anyone not known personally, with exception to a few top houses.
One should always be hesitant with a deal that sounds too good to be true ( a $2,500 Vitra La Chaise ) as it is likely to be too good to be true. (although I have found some exceptionally good deals when the bidding is light)
