Hi guys, I came across this pretty good looking Bertoia chair that claims to be vintage Knoll. I'm not that familiar with what exactly to be looking for in an original, but based on the threads I saw during a quick search the base seems to match up w/ the Knoll version. Anyone have any other tips for what I should be on the lookout for when trying to ID a real Knoll model vs a vintage reproduction? Thanks for all your help. Pics have been included below.

its hidden
the bertoia chairs, newer ones at least, have "knoll" recessed into the back, top horizontal bar, part of the base. If it doesn't have that, it could easily still be an original from before they were aggressive about branding. If all else fails just email knoll ask for help identifying it, always a good choice.

Thank you
Thanks for your response, I will e-mail them tonight. Is my best bet to e-mail or call the local Knoll retail store or is there a corporate e-mail address that would be worth sending my question to?

i have had at least ...
i have had at least 25 of those Diamond chairs at one time and your chair was made by knoll from 1952 to 1966 when they made the gage wire thicker, and started putting plastic on lots of the chairs, and of course changed them in the early 90s with there own branding,
in the early days they had paper labels that are mostly long gone.

LRF thanks for the info...
LRF thanks for the info about the gauge. Is there any other way to differentiate Knoll from other reproductions? Like dimensions, etc?

Additional pictures
Hey guys, got some additional pictures of the chair. It needs a new paint job and has some wires that were re-welded (well). The price on the chair is $250. What do you guys think? Worth it? Pass? It'll either need a cover or a new powder coat...

If I could find some for...
If I could find some for $100 I'd buy more than I would know what to do with! Thanks for the tip though. Called Knoll, waiting to hear back.

Yeah, they're definitely...
Yeah, they're definitely worth more than $100, but this particular one is also not worth $250. That's about the price you'd expect to pay for a vintage chair in perfect condition (no welds and no paint job required) with a cover. Maybe it'd cost a little ($50) more for a really nice one. I'd pass on this one. There are plenty of nice ones on ebay.
