Hi Does anybody out there know of somebody who can reupholster a vintage Egg in leather in the UK and do a good job? I appreciate they are highly thought of but I'd rather not pay the 2K Anne Bruce Upholstery charge for it considering the leather only costs around £400.00. Any help, advice, ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

You get what you pay for...
You get what you pay for.
Anne Marie might not be cheap but she's very very good and recommended by Fritz Hansen. I had a Swan done by Anne last year and I couldn't be happier with the chair or the service.
There may be others that can do it, but choose wisely, it's not a very forgiving chair. The leather might only be £400 but that's the easy bit- you're paying for the time spent applying it to the chair to achieve superior finish. Like most things in this country, you'll probably pay more than our U.S. counterparts.

I've no problem paying for work like this as I know it's a specialist job and few people can do it, but £1600.00 labour costs strikes me as just being unneccesarily greedy

Leather @ £400.00? From whom...
Leather @ £400.00? From whom and what type? Prices I have received here in the US from Sorrensen, Spinneybeck and Edelman are significantly higher.

Anne Marie uses leather from...
Anne Marie uses leather from Andrew Muirhead- it's a Scottish based supplier (google them)- they'll send you a sample card, larger ones if you ask. It's around £200 or just under- per hide- the swan only needed one.
I guess regarding the price, while I don't personally believe it to be *that* excessive, if you offer a service that few can match- it's the law of supply and demand, that and of course- it's London rates. There's a guy in Scotland who'll do the egg in fabric, but he'll not touch it in leather. Ho hum-good old United Kingdom ££.

Hello I know a factory from China. But they do the replica egg chair, not original. Maybe they could help you.

Sorensen Leather Prices
Sorensen quoted me somewhere around $10-12 per sq. ft. for a hide from the Analin series. So, 400 Pounds Sterling for a hide, presumably 50-55 sq ft. sounds a tiny bit high to me.
