If you have purchased furniture from Viesso, can you share your experience?
They seem good, but only 3 weeks to build a table seems too good to be true. All their furniture is made out of bamboo, is that a good material to use?
Viesso is great!
I bought a custom made Strata Sectional with a Chaise from Viesso. I even had the Chaise made extra long to accommodate my height. I also bought a Zavis table. Having all the options to chose from was an amazing and simple process. I was able to get exactly what I wanted and the end result was better than I had expected. I had it shipped up to Sacramento and it arrived perfectly and was set up in no time at all. Great company with great products.
Bamboo is strong and hard. It is also a highly sustainable natural resource that is harvested and replenished with no impact to the environment. Its unique grain pattern looks good with any stain.

Viesso is not great!
Viesso drank all my beer and left dirty dishes stacked in my sink.
Viesso borrowed my car and returned it with a dent, then lied to me about it.
Viesso talks too loudly and tells the same boring stories over and over.
Once, after drinking a little too much, Viesso touched me... inappropriately.
Sacramento, I'm glad your experience was better than mine. But I just can't in good conscience recommend Viesso.
Maybe you're real...
... and maybe you're not.
What we saw in this thread's first two messages is a common pattern in this forum: First there's a question about a furniture dealer -- usually, but not always, one who sells knockoffs of classic midcentury furniture -- and then the question is quickly answered by an alleged customer who's never posted here before but who magically happened upon the thread and felt compelled to post a ridiculously fawning testimonial, often including phrases lifted straight off the dealer's website.
I don't think there's anything wrong with furniture dealers setting up a Google Alert to find mentions of their name on web forums, then IDENTIFYING THEMSELVES and participating in the discussion -- I'd like to see more of that, in fact, and I don't think I'm the only one -- but the pathetically transparent shilling that we see here so frequently is just insulting.
The DesignAddict forums cover a wide range of topics; anyone who lives in a Streng Brothers house and has the enthusiasm for furniture design that's displayed by your posts should find LOTS of threads to contribute to... So the fact that your only post EVER was a sales pitch for a furniture dealer is pretty suspicious. Can you blame me for coming to the conclusion that you're just a shill?
No offense, but I'm still unconvinced that you're not. I'd probably change my mind, though, if I saw your name in some other threads unrelated to this particular dealer.
So... Welcome, and I'm looking forward to hearing what you might have to say on non-Viesso topics, like maybe what it's like living in a Northern California midcentury modern home that WASN'T built by Joe Eichler.
living in a Northern California midcentury modern home that WASN'T built by Joe Eichler
You wondered what it was like living in a non-Eichler home...
Even though my home wasn't built by Eichler, the space concepts are similar. I feel fortunate to live in a contemporary dwelling, and appreciate the Streng Brothers for their efforts to veer away from the typical Sacramento Valley ranch-style homes.
In the Northern California interior valley there are very few opportunities to purchase a home with a mid-century modern design aesthetic. The Streng homes were designed by Carter Sparks who was one of the Sacramento area's leading residential modern architects. He also worked with the Bay Area Eichler team, and was able to design Sacramento homes that shared many of the Eichler characteristics. The homes feature flat roofs, atriums, open plans, walls of glass and skylights. Heavy beams support smaller beams that in turn support the high cathedral ceilings. One of my favorite features is the exposed concrete aggregate floors that extend from the outside into the interior atrium.
As you noticed I'm not a poster, but I'm also not a poser. I enjoy reading these types of design sites, but rarely participate. I took a chance in purchasing furniture online and my glowing review of Viesso was an enthusiastic attempt to convey how much I am enjoying their products. Their site is a unique addition to online custom furniture buying. Much as my Streng home is a unique addition to traditional valley architecture.
Nuff said.
